Androuet

Androuet is a specialty cheese shop selling various cheese and wine from all over the World. Established in 1909, Paris, they offer the chance to purchase and taste over 100 varieties of cheese in their shop/restaurant in Old Spitalfields Market – a cheese-lover’s heaven! Upon entering, you are hit with the pungent aroma of strong fermented cheese, further in the back is a limited but delicious range of wine to perfectly match the right taste of cheese, which are all expertly advised by the knowledgable staff.

The restaurant entrance is situated within Spitalfields Market offering seats under heated lamps and cosy setting. Originally, my friend and I were going to order a fondue set as it offered good items and a tasty fondue. Despite alcohol being in the cheese, we did the worst thing and requested to not have wine with our fondue (we aren’t too fond of wine, so our intolerance is not the greatest – I know, dare I sin to reject the cheese-wine marriage) but anyways, it was kindly acknowledged by the amazing staff. They were seriously THE BEST staff I’ve come across. Not only did they offer alternative solutions, they even decided to help us save money it would be best to order the parts separately but still achieving similar aspects to the set menu – which it definitely was! AND it was much cheaper and just as tasty! ╭( ・ㅂ・)و ̑̑ ೕ(・ㅂ・ )/

The cheese fondue was nice and creamy, the white wine lingered but not enough for me to go ew and the meat was very flavoursome and gave a nice chew. Each fondue is accompanied with unlimited soft yet chewy bread, which was perfect for scraping off the last parts of the cheese silently laying at the bottom of the pot.

Definitely a place to venture back whether it’s a meal for one, two or 10, it will be a fun experience. Enjoy~~~ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
